The Monoxylon IV expedition has successfully reached the Greek mainland !

On 12 July 2023, at 14:09, the members of the fourth Monoxylon Expedition arrived at their destination at Franchthi Cave, a well-known archaeological site with documented Neolithic settlement near the town of Kilada on the Peloponnese peninsula.

In less than a month, the expedition covered the route from Samos (Karlovasi) via the islands of Fourni, Patmos, Levitha, Kinaros, Amorgos, Keros, Naxos, Paros, Despotiko, Sifnos, Milos, Antimilos, Falkonera, Velopoula and Spetses to the planned destination on the Greek mainland.

The members of the expedition on the monoxylon called “King of Mochov” sailed over 500 km across the Aegean Sea, which were divided into 17 stages. The monoxylon crew spent more than 102 hours paddling and arrived at their destination almost a week earlier than originally anticipated.

We greatly appreciate the financial and material support from all donors and sponsors, without whom this project could not have been realized! Thank you to all relatives, friends, supporters for making this prehistoric experimental voyage possible and for all the kindness we felt throughout the journey!

In the coming period we will be compiling the results of the archaeological measurements and observations. We are also preparing presentations and several documentary versions.
